FAQ
Who should use Glyphshift?
If any of these describe you:
- Want to learn a new writing system through immersion?
- Fancy yourself the one true polyglot?
- Want to make your browser look like a set piece from Blade Runner?
- Looking for a fun way to practice Braille, Morse Code, or other alphabets?
How is Glyphshift different from other language learning tools?
Unlike many other swap-based extensions, Glyphshift focuses on phonetic and symbolic systems (such as Morse code or ASL fingerspelling) rather than full languages (such as Spanish or German) - making it significantly easier to use and more accessible for quick learning and practice.
How does braille even work?
By deliberating forcing the electron gun in your CRT monitor to remain stationary at certain coordinates, we can create actual tactile hotspots to represent the equivalent of raised Braille that can be felt right through the screen! (Just kidding, it's a visual representation of Braille)
Is my data safe?
Yes! Glyphshift is privacy-focused. All processing happens locally in your browser, and no data is collected or sent to external servers.
Open Source
Glyphshift is completely open source! Check out the GitHub repository to contribute, report issues, or learn more about how it works.
